Fluid Grounds: Group exhibition at a&o Kunsthalle by artist collective ΔDELTA

The artists’ collective ΔDELTA is behind the Fluid Grounds exhibition. In sculptures, installations, video, photography, and sound, nine artists from Leipzig, Berlin, and Hamburg deal with fluid transitions, forms of accumulation and deposition, transformation, effectiveness, and disappearance of people, animals, and materials. Delta also addresses, among other things, collaboration, thus creating space for contemporary discourse; it is about interaction in online and offline spaces against the backdrop of constantly changing paradigms.

Light transition in Dawns: Tableau 05, 2021

During the making of a one-take-video series that addresses the idea of a sleepless world in its multiple allegoric facets, I wondered a lot about the current state of images. While it is nothing new to discuss the acceleration of the reign of imagery in times of Google, video publicity, Netflix's addictive series as well as Instagram or TikTok's frenzies, many time-based work in the arts replicates it. I had the desire to try something where movement is almost imperceptible: only the light changes, a rabbit passes by, and the wind blows delicately through the trees. Meanwhile, the body changes of posture slightly and landscape becomes more and more visible. This is a 38 min-long video, shot in the Ruhr Area on top of a stockpile during Summer 2021. Stockpiles are hills of industrial wastes, making the landscape something that is and remains restless.

Dawns, 2021, in storefront windows in the city center of Mülheim an der Ruhr

A selection of videos form my recent work Dawns, 2021, were shown at Makroscope Mülheim, vier.zentrale and Ringlokschuppen Ruhr. Dawns is a series of one-cut-takes and long-takes that tackles insomnia at the threshold between night and day.

Special thanks to Alisha Raissa Danscher and Vittoria Lenz for the preparation of that show together. Thx to the Canada Arts Council for the support for the work Dawns.
This exhibition was organized for the end of my residency with Urbane Künste Ruhr and Rinlokschuppen Ruhr in collaboration. Organizer is Ringlokschuppen Ruhr.

The exhibition is open from 4 December to 13 December. Everyday from sunset to sunrise.

Moncton: a solo exhibition, a festival, an artist talk, a workshop

The opening of Surrounded Uncaring Skies, a solo exhibition I made for the FICFA (Festival International du cinéma francophone en Acadie) took place on November 12 at the Galerie d'art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen in Moncton.

FICFA opened on November 11 and shows a great variety of francophone cinema in its programmation. What makes FICFA also special for Moncton's community, is that in the Volet arts médiatique (curated by Angèle Cormier) local artists are taking part to the programmation in events such as Acadie Underground, Séances éphémères and Objectif Oblique. They are part of the greatest highlights of the festival.

Thinking of the Image: Between Performance and Fiction.
I was invited to give a workshop at the Université de Moncton for the Pro part of FICFA. We discussed various practices in the field of video art, expanded cinema, photography and performance art, in short, that uses different strategies with performance and the camera. Afterwards the participants were invited to make experiments alone and in groups on the campus of the university.
